Is Your Burden Heavy?

This week’s Envelope Art…

This song is a bit of an oldie. I ran across it while flipping through a hymn book looking for one to illustrate. I chose it because I know so many people who are going through rough situations right now.

It makes me think of the 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) — Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

My personal paraphrase for this verse is, “Give all your burdens to Jesus, because He is taking care of you.”

Here are all the words of the song by Ralph Carmichael:

Verse 1
Is your burden heavy
As you bear it all alone
Does the road you travel
Harbor danger yet unknown
Are you growing weary
In the struggle of it all
Jesus will help you
When on His name you call
Verse 2
Is the life you’re living
Filled with sorrow and despair
Does the future press you
With its worry and its care
Are you tired and friendless
Have you almost lost your way
Jesus will help you
Just come to Him today
He is always there
Hearing ev’ry prayer
Faithful and true
Walking by our side
In His love we hide
All the day through
When you get discouraged
Just remember what to do
Reach out to Jesus
He’s reaching out to you

2017 is New Today

There it is! My new desk pad calendar, all clean! No notes, scribbles, doodles, coloring, no appointments, reminders, to-do lists, nothing.

I like the feeling of the fresh beginning that comes with January. Do you set exercise goals, have a brand new journal, or plan to brighten someone’s life each day?  Maybe you just let one year roll into the next without thinking about it? Let me know in a comment.

Jesus said, “Do not worry about tomorrow.” (Matthew 6:34) It is a reminder to take one day at a time. Christians have the tremendous blessing of being able to trust our tomorrows with Jesus, who is real, loves us, and has all power. He gives us what we need, when we need it.

The Apostle Paul wrote, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.”
(1 Peter 5:7, NLT)
